NATURE AREA
The lot that the house is built on is 100'x420'. The front half contains the house and lawn, about 250' in depth. The wooded area contains the additional 170' and borders a flood plain with a small creek.
The area circled in red is our home. The nature area is the wooded area, roughly 75-100 acres of urban wilderness.
A small, shallow creek (Jarrett Creek) runs through the flood plain. The depth of the creek rarely exceeds 6" and is safe for young children to explore. The area is rather large, perhaps as much as 75-100 acres of urban wilderness to enjoy.
The creek runs north, starting at Hwy 12/29 and empties in Lake Menomin.
A well worn path leads from the backyard to the 'forest'.
Wildlife viewing stand #1 is available for your use.
Wildlife viewing stand #2 available for your use.
Enjoy the babble of the brook while watching wildlife from a tree stand.
Another view of the creek.
This buck bedded down directly behind one of the wildlife viewing stands in the woods behind the house.
Looks like this backyard big boy arrived from Buffalo County...
Following are some additional photos of the Nature Ares.
As you walk the Nature Area to the north, you will come upon a large eagle's nest high up in a cove of large pine trees. This nest is in active use by a pair of eagles, and has been occupied by them for many years.
After about a fifteen minute hike to the north, you encounter Lake Menomin.
